Old Business:

Scholarship for a student aviator:  The Scholarship Committee consist of Barb C, Marc K. and Kathleen E.  Kathleen presented additional handouts from what was given last month.  Various categories for a Scholarship candidate for the National EAA Air Academy was presented (see attached).  A discussion was held on all aspects.  It was concluded that because of the size of our Chapter and because our Chapter has already earned, through flying Young Eagles, $675 in credit, we would support one candidate in 2010 by adding to that amount.  The suggested amount to add to the credit was $525 for a total $1200. However, it was requested the committee investigate other expenses a candidate might experience in order to determine how much the Chapter could afford to add to the credits indicated. It was recommended that we announce the intent support a National EAA Academy candidate at our Monthly Dinner Meeting ask for donations. It was suggested that the present Scholarship Committee be ask to act as the Scholarship Interviewing Committee to screen candidates at the appropriate time in the coming months.

Volunteers really made the whole Tour run smoothly.  Thank you one and all. Those who were the lucky ones to fly up to Portland (Hillsboro Airport) had a great time and returning by rental cars. The flight up there was IFR so the view wasn’t too good we were told. The Sec. was instructed to send a thank you to National for stopping at Redding and suggesting, if we are chosen again, could we have it on a weekend.

Attention Aircraft Builders

AIRCRAFT UNDER CONSTRUCTION/RESTORATION

In recent discussions, the Board of Directors realized we don't know how many homebuilders there are in the area, or who they are.  We set about creating a list of the builders we know of, to build a resource for helping one another and networking.  For example, if someone has a problem with some aspect of building a particular model of RV, the list could help him find someone who has experience with that aircraft.  Another purpose for the list could be to contact homebuilders who are not Chapter members to
encourage them to attend meetings and join the Chapter.  Another purpose for the list could be as a resource to invite homebuilders to occasionally participate as panel members for a program for a regular meeting of the whole membership, to discuss aspects of homebuilding that would be of general interest.

To make this resource successful, we need your help.  Below is a start of a list of homebuilders who fly out of either Benton Field or Redding Muni.  As you will see, we don't have a complete list of mail and/or phone numbers and there may be other homebuilders that should be on the list.  If you know a phone number or email address or other names, please send an email or give a call to Kathleen Evans: 396-2422 or Herb Zuidema:  phone 275 5103

Please see the attachment.
